Downingtown East High School Sports Registration Information
Students who are interested in participating in athletics in the fall, winter, or spring must be registered on the Arbiter Sports formerly Family ID system. As a part of this registration process, the student must have a PIAA Section 6 (Formerly Section 7): Certification of Authorized Medical Examiner (physical form). Physicals must be dated after May 1 of the current school year and must be on the PIAA form. NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE!!
What to expect after you register?
You will receive an email with your registration confirmation. This will indicate that your registration is completed. If you do not receive this, you have not fully completed the registration. Students must be APPROVED in Arbiter Sports to participate in tryouts. A completed registration is not the same as being approved.
If there are any issues with the registration or any missing requirements, you will receive an email through Arbiter Sports explaining exactly what is missing or needs correction. Once these requirements are submitted, the registration will be reviewed for approval again.
Where can I get a physical done?
1. Schedule an appointment with your child's primary care doctor who will complete the examination.
2. Visit an urgent care facility. The closest urgent care facilities to Downingtown East are:
- MinuteClinic at CVS: 105 E. Uwchlan Ave, Exton, PA 19341
- Concentra Urgent Care: 625 N. Pottstown Pike, Exton, PA 19341
- Patient First Primary and Urgent Care Downingtown: 967 E. Lancaster Ave, Downingtown, PA 19335
Please note there are most likely additional associated costs with these locations.
If you are going to an urgent care facility to get a physical completed, please take the PIAA Section 5 Health history form with you for the healthcare provider’s reference. You will NOT need to upload the PIAA Section 5 to the registration, only the Section 6.
Common Mistakes on Physical Form
- Physical is not dated, not signed by the medical provider, or is dated before May 1st of the current school year.
- "Cleared" is not checked off
- Physical indicates: "Cleared w/ recommendation(s) for further evaluation or treatment for": if this is the case, a clearance note will be needed from the appropriate specialist.
Please be sure to review all forms before they are uploaded. Any of the reasons listed above will result in not approved status to the registration until the necessary information is submitted.
Common Mistakes with Registrations
- Registration submitted without Section 6 physical uploaded.
- Agreements are signed by parent as both student and parent.
Registration Deadlines
It is recommended that you submit your registration and physical a few weeks in advance for review. If there are corrections to be made, you want to ensure you have the maximum amount of time to do so. There is no guarantee that registrations submitted after the deadline are reviewed in time for tryouts. DON’T LET PAPERWORK BE THE REASON YOU MISS TRYOUTS!
