Masterworks Choir at Festival Disney

The Downingtown East Masterworks Choir earned a Superior rating last weekend at Festival Disney, a national competition sponsored by the National Association for Music Education. They also finished 2^nd in their AAAA Class, Mixed Choir Division and had the third highest score in the entire festival, across all divisions and classes, earning them a Bronze Award. There were 22 ensembles competing from all over the country in this festival that took place at the Contemporary Resort and at the Saratoga Springs Resort at Disney World in Orlando, FL. Senior choir member, Peter Naughton also took home a special achievement award as the outstanding vocal soloist. Our ensemble received critique and feedback from GRAMMY® Award winning conductor, Dr. Jerry Blackstone, from Dr. William Powell, director of choral activities at Auburn University, (pictured) as well as from his wife Dr. Rosephanye Powell, who is hailed as one of America's premier women composers of choral music.  (Photo courtesy of Jen Flannery, choir parent)
